Community Media Projects
Regional organizations collaborate with scholars and community cultural developers on media arts projects that explore issues and develop solutions for the places they live. The projects that emerge amplify under-represented voices, spotlight overlooked histories, and foster civic participation via the big screen, the airwaves, gallery walls, and the world-wide-web.
This approach creates opportunities for:
- Producing media that can be used in community change efforts
- Building community capacity to define issues and advocate for solutions
- Creating scholarship with community concerns at the center of inquiry
- Developing social networks that promote campus-community partnerships
